Ideal Gas Law Calculator — PV = nRT

The ideal gas law ties together the four measurable state variables of a gas. Give any three — pressure, volume, amount, temperature — and this tool finds the fourth using R = 8.314 J/(mol·K). Temperature must be in kelvin.

PV=nRTPV = nRT

How to interpret the result

Worked check: 1.00 mol at 273.15 K in 22.414 L → P = 1.00 × 8.314 × 273.15 / 0.022414 = 101325 Pa = 1.000 atm, exactly STP. Real gases deviate at high pressure or near condensation.

Assumptions

  • Gas behaves ideally (point particles, no attractions)
  • Temperature is absolute (kelvin)
  • R = 8.314 J/(mol·K)
