Theoretical Yield Calculator

Theoretical yield is the most product a balanced equation allows — the benchmark every real experiment is judged against. From the moles of limiting reactant, the mole ratio, and the product's molar mass, this tool predicts that ceiling.

mproduct=nLR×coeffPcoeffR×MPm_{product} = n_{LR} \times \frac{coeff_P}{coeff_R} \times M_P

How to interpret the result

Worked check: 2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O with 2.00 mol O₂ limiting gives 2.00 × (2/1) × 18.015 = 72.06 gram of water. Real yields always fall short — side reactions, incomplete conversion, and transfer losses.

Assumptions

  • The limiting reactant is correctly identified
  • The reaction proceeds to completion with no side products
