Molar gas constant

The molar gas constant relates energy, temperature, and amount of substance: R = N_A · k_B. It appears in the ideal gas law PV = nRT, where it carries units of energy per mole per kelvin. Its value is determined experimentally and is recommended by CODATA; the commonly used rounded value is 8.314 J/(mol·K).
