— Gibbs free energy change
The change in Gibbs free energy determines spontaneity at constant temperature and pressure: ΔG < 0 spontaneous, ΔG = 0 at equilibrium, ΔG > 0 nonspontaneous. It is related to enthalpy and entropy by ΔG = ΔH − TΔS, and to the equilibrium constant by ΔG° = −RT ln K.
